Ep19: Detecting Cancer Together
One of the most extraordinary women in the world joined us on this episode: the indefatigable Nancy Brinker, who turned tragedy into triumph by founding the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation after her sister died young from the disease. Over the past 40+ years, their pink ribbons have become synonymous with the crusade for a cure – and the foundation has raised more than $3 billion for research and awareness.
Now Nancy has launched the Promise Fund, focused on promoting early detection of breast and cervical cancer. She shares with us her fervent belief in grassroots community engagement as the best way of spreading the word and driving results, and explains how you, too, can play a role in finding a cure.
Here are my three takeaways from my conversation with Nancy Brinker.
